Mealtime.org + $250 Grocery Store Giftcard Giveaway Ends 9/25

HOSTED BY:

You must go check out Mealtime.org! Today was my first stop and not my last! They have super tips, bargain ideas, recipes, etc.

I admit that I'm not a can food buyer. I will get can corn when I'm making a few soups. That is the only vegetable that I buy canned besides tomato products. I never buy fruit in a can. So today while surfing around Mealtime I discovered their Essential Kitchen Toolkit: Back to basics guidelines for preparing convenient, nutritious meals.

I read that canned food is picked at its prime and canned for the most nutrition and flavor quality. I already knew that canned goods were cheaper than fresh or frozen but honestly I didn't realize that they were that nutritious.

With fall and winter approaching us quickly I am going to make a plan to stock up on canned goods. I've been married for 16 years and have never done this. I'm looking forward in saving some money and using products that were made to be high in quality and nutritious for my family. Shame on me for not doing this sooner.

Go to

and read her post on Mealtime.org and enter her $250.00 Grocery gift card giveaway!

Shop the sales! Gap Outlet has one going on!

When it comes to shopping for my girl's I'm always thinking in the future. Very rarely am I going out and buying clothes to fit them today. (Unless there is an incredible sale and they are in need of a size right now) I shop the sales to outfit them for the next season! Since I"ve been doing this I feel that I save money and always have quality fashionable clothes on hand no matter when the growth spurt occurs!

Best time to buy clothes that they do not wear very often is at the previous year's seasonal sales! Winter coats, gloves, hats, scarves, snow pants, and boots are a perfect example of items that can be purchased ahead of time. I do the same with swimsuits, beach towels, goggles, etc.

I store the clothes in plastic containers marked with sizes. This makes it easy to put clothes away when purchased and super easy to pull down a container and grab out clothes that are needed. Leave the tags on the clothes until you wear them. In case you no longer need the item you can take it to your local resale/consignment shop! They love clothes that have not been worn and have the store tag on them!!!

Gap Outlet is having a monster of a sale!

TwitterMoms is working with them to promote their sale. If you are part of the TwitterMoms network you can blog about their sale and have a chance to win a $20 gift card!!! Super bonus!

Extra Savings:
Everyone in the TwitterMoms network will be emailed an exclusive printable barcode coupon to use when shopping at any Gap Outlet location to receive an additional 10% off the already reduced prices. Shop Gap Outlet stores and save up to 40% off the already low Factory Store prices during the semi-annual Baby Sale taking place now through September 24th. Lunchnote Promise and Site Warming Party!

(This entire post is also on my The Homeschool Messenger Blog)
Thanks to Lunchables and their Lunch note promise campaign a lot of children will be getting fun lunch notes from their parents this week! They ask that you go to their site LunchNotePromise and pledge to put a note of encouragement, etc in your child's lunch this week.

In turn, their promise is to donate a meal to a child and their family in need through Feeding America. According to their site "Feeding American is the nation's leading domestic hunger-relief charity, which serves an estimated nine million children annually. The goal is to turn up to 100,000 promises from moms like you into up to 100,000 meals from Lunchables Lunch Combinations for kids in need."

When my daughters were younger and went out for school this is something I would do for them! One time I found a stack of the notes where they had saved their notes! Now that we are homeschooled I don't do lunch notes because we are all home together for lunch. My pledge is to do something special for 3 weeks on one lunch day (I have 3 girls so we can all share in the special treat). Thanks for this reminder!

The Online Mom-Momma's little helper!

A few months ago I was at a site warming for The Online Mom put on by ResourcefulMommy. What a little gem tangled in the wide world of webbing! I became a member of her site, fan on Twitter and Facebook.

The Online Mom was created by parents for parents.

From the site it states: "The Online Mom provides internet technology advice and information to help parents protect their kids, encourage responsible behavior and safely harness the power of technology in the new digital world. Social networking, photo sharing, video games, IM & texting, internet security, cyberbullying, educational resources, the latest on tech hardware, gadgets and software for kids 3-8, tweens and teens, and more."

I love the INTERNET section on her site. It covers how the internet works, e-commerce, educational tools, search engines, e-mail, instant messages, social networks, blogging, photo & video sharing, pornography & other dangers, and internet security tools.

This is the go to place for all your answers on what is going on with the Internet. Do you like reading high tech information that you don't understand? I bet you don't and you won't find that here. They easily explain these subjects quickly and move on to the next topic!

As a mom I try and be in the KNOW before I'm asked by my girls if they can join such and such on the internet and send the photo to such and such and so on. There have been times when they have asked me if they can join something that I didn't know about. So before I say yes they know I must check it out.

I found that The Online Mom is just the place to go to to explain things like Facebook, Texting acronyms, search engines, filters, etc. We are a homeschooling family and rely heavily on the internet. It is a wonderful resource that can no longer be ignored. Most likely your child uses the computer at home and at school. Guess what? They also use the computer at their friends house! Do yourself and your child a favor and learn all that you can to protect them.

Are you curious as to what MP3 players, thumb drives, video games, computers, phones, cameras, GPS devices and so on that your kids are wanting? Do you want to know how these products work? This site is the place to go to education yourself and arm yourself for the up and coming technology choices your kids are making for themselves based on what their friends have and what the TV tells them that they need to have.

I know that you are you ready to go check out The Online Mom right now! Sign up for the RSS feed and get weekly newsletters. Do you have a question that you can't seem to find the answer for? Click on ASK THE ONLINE MOM to submit your question.

You can also connect
  • On Twitter with The Online Mom founder Monica Vila. She has tweetchats every Wednesday night using the hashtag #theonlinemom. Chats discuss everything from privacy on social networks to back to school gadgets.
  • On Facebook where she has fan giveaways starting this Wednesday and running through Monday, September 21st. The giveaway includes a Nintendo Wii game system and some other prizes to fans who complete various fan challenges over the almost two-week contest period. Fan challenges will be announced by The Online Mom on her Facebook status updates, so fans will have to keep an eye on their home page newsfeed or check back on the page regularly for info.
This post will be in a series of post about The Online Mom website. I am participating in a blog promotion of her site and will be reviewing products and writing reviews. I was given the opportunity through Momfluence.
