Cooking with a 4G LTE Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.0

The 4G LTE Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.0 is a fun device to use in the Kitchen. I didn't include my New Orleans Pralines with this post but I will add it later in the week to my blog. So stop back in!

Over 7 years ago my family went through a National Disaster (we were all fine as we evacuated before Hurricane Katrina stopped into New Orleans.) We had learned from previous evacuations to take family photos, scrapbooks, personal identification documents and a few days change of clothes. Never in my lifetime did I think we would never return to live in New Orleans and loose a majority part of our personal belongings. Why do I share this with you? Well I lost something really important to me. I loss all of my years of collecting recipes, cookbooks and handwritten recipe cards from family and friends.

Since this happened, I have slowly rebuilt a wonderful recipe collection and now use my blog and other online resources so that no matter where I go my recipes will follow me. One tool that I have recently fallen in love with to use in the kitchen is the 4G LTE Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.0 . It has a 7 inch color screen which is also touch screen. The resolution is clean, picture perfect recipes can been seen on the screen and it comes with a 3.2-megapixel rear and front facing camera.
4G LTE Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.0

This table is just the right size to have in the kitchen to view recipes, take pictures of food prep (I'm a foodie blogger so I take A LOT of food photos) and allows me to watch Netflix when I'm in my kitchen for several hours at a time.

Besides helping me to view my recipes, I love searching blogs, Pinterest and brand name website  for more recipe ideas. I have my Tab loaded with free foodie mobile apps of some of my favorite sites  to easily view recipes as well as add my own creations.

Here are some fo the sweet free foodie apps that I used on the 4G LTE Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.0:
Epicurious Recipes & Shopping ListAllRecipes.com Dinner SpinnerWhole Foods Market RecipesSimply Organic Recipes. They were all very easy to navigate and I found a lot of new meal ideas, recipes and more that I could easily save within each app. Do you have a Tablet? Do you use it exclusively in the kitchen? I love that I can use this in the kitchen as well as an easy to take item in case I have to evacuate my home again!  It is also just the right size to take to the store with my menu plan or the saved recipe in an app to pull up at the store. The 4G makes this Tablet super sweet and I love having internet no matter where I go!

This Tablet worked great for taking pictures of my food prep to be used on my blog. It saved me a lot of time because it was an easy, point and shoot camera. My big Canon camera can now be replaces with Tablet photos.
I'm hooked! I am totally in love with using this in the Kitchen. I have two suggestions for future product development. One would be to increase the resolution of the camera. Overall it worked fine for my blog foodie photos and you can easily edit them on the Tablet. I didn't try and print any off but that would be one reason to have a higher resolution. The other suggestion would that the Tablet have the ability to use it as a phone! I was testing it out to see how it would work as a phone. I think that I could get use to a phone this size :)

Is this something you would use in the Kitchen? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

I was provided a 4G LTE Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.0 to review. My own tasty opinions are expressed here.

Cereal for Breakfast? Kellogg's Start Simple, Start Right

How does your family start their day? Do they wake up and run out the door or do they take a few minutes to eat breakfast? As the mom, I have always been a firm believer of everyone eating in the morning. I have taught my family that breakfast is to "break" the all night "fast" and necessary for their body to function all morning long. Besides teaching this I have always had breakfast options available for them to choose from each morning. I'm all for wholesome and simple. How about you?

One of the food choices that I always have in the pantry is cereal. Everyone has an old standby favorite but we all like variety so what we have in the pantry does vary. I'm ONE OF THOSE moms who will buy everyone their own box of cereal. I buy them what they want to eat.

We were sent 5 boxes of our most favorite family brands of cereal, Kellogg. Their cereal serves as a reminder that breakfast time is a time to "Start Simple Start Right" which has always been my belief for my family. So which cereals were we sent?  Here they are along with our thoughts on the cereal, who likes them and what I do with them beides eating in the morning.

*Kellogg's Raisin Bran- This is mine and daughter #2's favorite. As a teen she is the only one who likes raisins in her cereal. Daughter #1 will eat raisins, just not in her cereal. I use it when baking bread or making muffins.

*Kellogg's All Bran- I'm the only one who likes to eat this cereal. I like to add it to yogurt or eat it with a banana. I do bake with it, too so then everyone eats it! It is a win-win for all when I bake with it.

*Kellogg's Corn Flakes-Hubby has always liked this cereal and does add honey to it. The girls will eat it, too. We have a family favorite cookie recipe which everyone loves. They even try and convince me that the cookie is breakfast food. I will also use as a crunchy topping to coat fish and chicken when I'm going to bake them in the oven.

*Kellogg's Rice Krispies Original-Everyone loves this snap, crackle and pop cereal! Great for yummy Rice Krispies bars.

*Kellogg's Rice Krispies Gluten Free -This is a first large box here and well received! I had a sample once and liked it! We couldn't taste any difference from the original. Great for dessert making, too!

Check out this informative graphic on Kellogg's Seed-To-Spoon process (click to get more information.) It is very educational! My kids love where our food comes from and how our favorite brands get it to our table. How about yours? We wish that we could visit every factory but of course that isn't possible.

Out of the five that Kellogg cereals that we tried, do you have a favorite? How about your family? How do you get your family to Start Simple, Start Right? I'd love to know! Please share what you do below.

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom CentralConsulting for Kellogg’s. I received sample products to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item as a thank-you for participating.

Progresso Light Soup Giveaway- Yummy 100 Calories #MyBlogSpark

Fall is my favorite season I get to start cooking soups and comfort foods. This past summer was uncomfortably hot and I did not cook much at all. So as the weather cooled the past month, I got out of my cooking dry spell and started creating family favorites. How about you? What season do you enjoy cooking in the most?

Soups are one of my specialties so it seems that I have one going at least once a week. I'm careful to create healthy variations that do not sacrifice on flavor. I always make enough soup so that we can eat it for 2 days. Sometimes we eat it all in one day which is a good thing but then we are missing the homemade goodness for lunch. Does this ever happen to you?

Lunch time is quick food time around here so when I don't have leftovers I have to have something easy for my hubby and kids. Most of the time they are in charge of their own lunch. So knowing this, I just recently found a few options for them and they are the Progresso® Light soups. These soups are rich, creamy and 100 calories per serving. How does Light Creamy Potato with Bacon and Cheese and Light Chicken Pot Pie Style soups sound to you?

These two Progresso Light creamy soups join their more than 40 other soups that are 100 calories or less per serving. If you use the
Weight Watchers® point system they are 2PointsPlus® value per serving. Have you ever tried their soups? Do you have a favorite? My hubby has always been a fan of their soups. He loves their hearty, meaty varieties! I'm more of an all veggie or chicken noodle soup fan.

Are you more likely to try something new if you have a coupon? If so go visit http://goo.gl/WbbPS to download a printable coupon for $1.25 off the purchase of 4 cans of Progresso® soup. This will give you a chance to try the two new flavors and any of the other 40 choices. Share this link with family & friends, too!

No time to brew? Try Iced Coffee by International Delight! #zombies

Ready for coffee or even coffee made for Zombies? How about Zombie themed food? Hope you have a fun National Coffee day with these recipes.
How do you brew? What is your favorite way to drink coffee? For the most part I like a hot steamy cup of coffee. There are times, in the afternoon when I want an iced coffee but will skip it because I'm too lazy to brew coffee, chill it and then drink it. That would take too much planning and who really has time for that?? I don't!

My 3 teens are also coffee drinkers. For the most part, they are iced coffee drinkers. A few month back I found International Delight's Iced Coffee on the end cap at my local grocery store. I picked one up thinking this would be an easy afternoon solution for me and something the girls could drink on the run.

Guess what? The iced coffee was such a hit that it is now a regular staple in our home. Just about the time we all got addicted to this coffee we were asked to have an International Delight's Iced Coffee Party to celebrate National Coffee Day! We love coffee and celebrate as if everyday is National Coffee Day but didn't turn down the chance to officially celebrate this day!

For the party we made {Kid Zombie} Iced Coffee Frappes, (Momma Zombie} White Russians and {Pumpkin Guts} Scones. We also purchased fun Halloween cookies from our local bakery. All was a huge hit amongst the teen and mom of teen crowd!

{Kid Zombie} Iced Coffee Frappes

1 cup International Delight Iced Coffee, any flavor
1/2 cup vanilla ice cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
Halloween sprinkles
Whipped cream
Caramel
Red icing or decorating gel

Combine first 3 ingredients in a blender and blend until thick or smooth.
Pour into glass and let the little zombies do the rest. Add whipped cream, caramel sprinkles and blood (decorating gel) and then drink! Serves 1.

{Momma Zombie} White Russians

1 cup International Delight Iced Coffee, any flavor
1/2 cup ice
1 ounce vodka
1 ounce coffee liqueur

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. You can skip the blender and just give it a mix which is pictured above. Serves 1.

During our National Coffee Day discussions, we all agreed at how easy it is to use this cold coffee for drinks and in recipes. It is also handy to have in the house for the afternoon iced coffee drink! Everyone liked the coffee and we even converted one of the teens who normally NEVER drinks coffee!

Here are some pictures that we took during the party! I realized after the fact that I took more of the coffee than of the actual people drinking the coffee! Oops!

Anyhow my kitchen was set up by like a cafe and we had fun making drinks! We tried all the flavors and everyone had a favorite. We can't wait to see what other flavors International Delight creates. We all are hoping for seasonal choices like Pumpkin, Peppermint and Gingerbread.

So have you tried this Iced Coffee? If so, what did you think? What as your favorite flavor? If you haven't tried it, are you going to?

What to know more about International Delight? Check out their Facebook page.

I wrote this review while participating in an In Home Party campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of International Delight and received product samples to facilitate my party and review, and a promotional item to thank me for participating.
