Holiday Shopping is underway and will be going strong now through the end of the year. To help me get ready this year I have done something new and created new Collections on eBay. These collection allow me to save what I want and get it when I'm ready. Within minutes of searching eBay I had collections created. The collections have connected me with people trading and selling just what I'm looking for this holiday season. Horseradish Potato Recipe and other Holiday Mashed Potato Recipes

Do you have any favorite mashed potato recipes? Now that it is time for Thanksgiving and Christmas I have been thinking about potato recipes. If you need something extra special for the holiday dinner menu check out these tasty choices including the Horseradish Potatoes from Gooseberry Patch. This recipe is in their new cookbook, Hometown Christmas. I'll be sharing more holiday recipes from that cookbook this week and giving away a copy!

Horseradish Potatoes

Ingredients

4-5 redskin potatoes
1 c. sour cream
2 T. prepared horseradish
1 t. dried basil (we used dried chives)
2 T. butter, softened
salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Cut unpeeled potatoes (we peeled ours) into halves or quarters, depending on size of potatoes. Cover with water in a saucepan. Cook over medium high heat until soft enough to mash, 15-20 minutes. Drain mash with remaining ingredients leaving potatoes chunky. Serves 4-6.

What are your favorite Holiday Scents? #FebrezeHoliday

Nothing gets me in a festive mood as fast as the holiday scents of Thanksgiving and Christmas. Snow, Christmas decorations, Christmas goodies and a Christmas tree all carry special memories for me. These memories have special scents that trigger my mind to the fun times I've had with my husband and three teens. Do you have any favorite holiday scents? What are some of your favorites?

 The Febreze scent of Cranberry Cider (combination of apple cider and cranberry frost) is one of my all time favorites. This scent is used in my kitchen and family room.  My husband loves the smell of Christmas tree pine for the holidays. If we have a real tree some of that scent is in the air. Thanksgiving Trail Mix {Thanksgiving Appetizers}

Thanksgiving is one of our most family favorite holidays. It is filled with family, food and fun just like the theme of my blog! We always celebrate Thanksgiving with my hubby's family so each year we eat our family traditional foods and well as adding in new tasty holiday recipes. We love Thanksgiving Snacks and Thanksgiving Appetizers just about as much as we love the main Thanksgiving Dinner! How about your family? How do you celebrate Thanksgiving?

Here is a super easy and tasty Thanksgiving snack that can be made to be given away or have siting around for everyone to munch on. I think this one is perfect the way it is made but you can add anything you want to it!

Giving Thanks Thanksgiving Trail Mix

 Ingredients

1 box of Cheese its
1 bag of Bugles (love how these are shaped like cornucopias)
1 bag Autumn or Fall Harvest Mix Candy
1 bag Fall M & Ms
1 bag of pretzel sticks
1 package Ranch dry dressing mix

Directions

1- In a large bowl, add all the ingredients and toss.
2-Serve in smaller containers.

Kitchen Note

Remember to substitute any of the above for your family favorites! Nuts, raisins and Craisins go well in this, too!

Lancome #DreamTone Review and post a #bareselfie

Yes I'm well over 40 and my skin, at times, does show its age. I'm not a huge make up wearing mom nor am I using products to protect my aging skin. When I was given the opportunity to review Lancome DreamTone customized skin tone correcting serum through a campaign with SheSpeaks on behalf of Lancome I jumped to it! Knowing that I needed to start adding a skin care routine this seemed like a good time to start. Is your skin starting to age? What are you doing about it?

Speaking of Christmas Goodies, I am sharing 30 Days of Christmas Goodies right here on my blog. Stop in daily to get a new one. Today I want to share with you my tasty Holiday Toffee. This is one of our family favorites and it is easy-to-do. The toffee is light, sweet and has a crunchy butter taste with just the right amount of added smooth chocolate on top. Sound complicated? It isn’t! It is quick and easy.

Holiday Toffee

Ingredients

 1 pound of butter, room temperature
1 cup of sugar
1 package of chocolate chips (milk, semi sweet, dark or white)
1 package of crushed nuts of your choice

Directions

 1-Butter a 11 X 17 jelly roll pan or cover it with parchment paper/foil.
2-In a large pan set for low heat, melt the butter and sugar.
3-Once melted, increase the heat to high and bring to a boil. Stir constantly until it reaches peanut butter tan color.
4-Quickly add in all but 2 tablespoons of the crushed nuts.
5-Remove from heat and evenly pour into jelly roll pan.
6-Let toffee cool for 5 minutes and then sprinkle on the chocolate chips.
7-Let them melt for a minute or so until the melted chocolate can be spread.
8-Add on the remaining 2 tablespoons of nuts.
9-Let cool completely and then break into pieces.

Kitchen Notes:
The nuts can vary depending on what you prefer. Almonds, pistachios, pecans and walnuts work great. Create a mix or stick to one variety. If you have someone with a nut allergy, skip the nuts! You can also add an extra decorative punch with seasonal sprinkles on top! This toffee works great to have on hand to serve family and friends who drop in during the holidays. It is also wonderful to wrap up and give as gifts.
