Skillet Bacon Spread and Crockpot Potato Soup Recipe

Have you EVER heard of Skillet Bacon Jam???

Check this out (provided information): We make this bacon spread condiment called bacon jam..you say what?.. that’s right, we use niman ranch bacon and render it down along with onions, balsamic and other spices . It cooks for several hours until it is a perfect blend of smoky, tangy, savory and slightly sweet….basically spreadable bacony goodness!  USDA approved.

My take on the product:  WOW this stuff is tasty!  I was skeptical to try the spread/jam but I'm always up for a culinary adventure so I accepted the challenge!  This little jar is full of yummy goodness.  I put some in my potato soup and it was yummy! Other uses, includes but not limited to, use of burgers, base for a vinaigrette, on baked brie (I'm going to try this soon) and on toast!

Easiest Potato Soup

(This recipe is for a 7 quart crock pot)

Approx. 7 lbs potatoes, peeled and chopped
Approx. 3 quarts chicken stock (can use water)- after adding in all the veggies add the liquid.. the crockpot should be just a little over 3/4 full to cook.  You can add the extra stock at the end when you add the half and half

4 stalks celery, chopped
2 medium onions, chopped
1 Tbsp celery seed
1/4 c. chives
2 tsp pepper
2 small bags of garlic potato flakes
1 quart half and half

Dump all but potato flakes and half and half,  in crock pot and let cook on high 6 hours.  (Can cook on low 8-10 hours) Right before serving, whisk in potato flakes and then add half and half.  Your crock pot will be very full!

Serve! Top with cheese or Skillet Bacon Spread or both! Yummy!  This soup freezes great!

I love potato soup and I think this recipe is fantastic. I tried it out in my crock pot (which doesn't get used as much as it should) and it turned out great. Thankyou
