The Green Coffee Bean Company Giveaway

This is my last coffee review for Coffee Month 2010!  I'm ending my month with The Green Coffee Bean Company.

Here is their bio: The Green Coffee Bean Company is a little coffee shop in Ketchikan, Alaska, located in beautiful and rainy Southeast. We do all of our own roasting with our Probat roaster. We put a little bit of love into all the coffee we roast and we hope you can taste the difference. If you have any questions, please feel free to email us. We love to talk about coffee!

The Green Coffee Bean Company is owned by Steve, main roaster/owner/head honcho. Brittany does the online part of TGCBC to help Steve out, as he's usually pretty busy with roasting coffee! We also have Crystal, our roasting assistant, and a barista or two.

We also have green coffee beans available and do wholesale orders. We package our coffee in stand-up bags with a zipper-style closure and a one way valve to let air and gases out. Coffee will stay fresh for a long time!

I had the pleasure trying Harrar Longberry, dark roasted; Alaska Black Wolf, dark roasted and Midnight Sun Espresso Blend, medium roasted.  I could not stop smelling all three of these.  I would love to be at their coffee shop in Ketchikan and smell their shop.  If I ever get to Alaska, I would plan my time around going to their shop.  

Alaska Black Wolf: 

(From store) Black Wolf Espresso Blend is a dark roasted delight. This is a bold and flavorful blend that is perfect for espresso, but tastes just as great used for drip coffee. Black Wolf will keep you howling all day!  This espresso does make you howl!  It is smooth and tasty!!  I brew it in my one cup Keurig Machine! Works like a charm!

Midnight Sun Espresso Blend:

 For me, this coffee had the best smell, ever. There are many smells and taste in this black bag! One of them that I picked up on was a light coconut smell and taste.  My daughter loved the smell of this one, too!  This for me, is definitely a coffee to be enjoyed with friends.

Harrar Longberry:  This was their coffee of the month for August! Lucky me I was able to get a bag!  They are all sold out!  Keep checking back because this is a bag of beans worth owning.  

(From the label) The district of Harrar is located in teh Northeast area of Ethiopia at about 5,000 to 6,000 feet above sea level.  Longberry is a large, long-pointed bean.  They are grown by hand on smal peasant plots and processed carefully by the traditional, dry method which brings out characteristic wild blueberry undertones, flowery aroma, medium acidity and heavy wine-like body.  With all this in one coffee bean, just roast to second crack to bring out he natural wild fruitiness or dark roast for more pungent cup.  A very special treat with any blueberry dessert.  

I love coffee from Ethiopia.  This is a first for me to try Harrar Longberry.  I was amazed at the floral, blueberry taste and smell.  Very exciting!  This is a great afternoon coffee and great for dessert time.

Coffee Month- Organo Gold Healthy Drink Review

Happy Coffee Month!  I've sampled some yummy, new coffee's this month.  The only coffee that I've sampled that was instant this time is coffee from Organo Gold Gourmet Coffees. If I didn't know that they were instant I would not have known any difference from instant to fresh brew.  It tasted more like a herbal mix than just coffee.  I guess that is why it is a healthy drink vs instant coffee.  The Latte was sweet and creamy.

The smell of the coffee was very rich and inviting!   They sell a "healthier coffee" that is packed with 100% certified Ganoderma Lucidum Red Mushroom! This is a true first for me.  I was pleasantly surprised!

Coffee Month Giveaway by Good Harvest Coffee

Happy Coffee month with Good Harvest Coffee Company from Texas.  They don't roast your beans til you order!  They state that roasting is an art, and every batch is a new experience.  I got to review their Fair-Trade, Organic Nicaragua Beans. The beans smelled great!  I love smelling coffee beans.  I poured the beans in my hand so that I could get a good whiff!  My nose really picked up on the cherry and chocolate smell.  Yum!  When tasting the brew, it had a full, delicate taste that left my mouth very happy.  It had a light fruity tasty!  This is definitely a morning coffee for me. 


Here is their description of this coffee: This is a medium-bodied varietal of organically-grown, fair-trade coffee beans from the high-grounds of Nicaragua. According to coffeebeandirect.com, "Nicaragua is a fairly new entry into the coffee export world, and they have made quite a splash already. Some experts say that this coffee can give Kona a run for its money."

As to flavor, this coffee is mid-toned, with a pungent aroma containing fresh cedar, cherry, and chocolate-caramel notes. In the cup delicate, roundly sweet, with floral and high-toned fruit notes.

* To bring out the very best flavors of this tasty bean, we recommend a medium (Full-City) roast, which is how we will roast it for you unless you specify otherwise (lighter or darker).

Mud Pie Studio Pottery Review and Giveaway

Happy Coffee Month! Today is my last day to post coffee and coffee products!  Oh don't worry I will still post coffee reviews and giveaways but not daily for an entire month!  How fitting, on the last day, I'm going to be posting about actual coffee and coffee mugs!  Not a bad way to end the month.  


Today, I'm featuring my newest favorite ETSY store, Mud Pie Studio by Stacy.  Pottery is her second career and it has taken time to master her craft.  She didn't just wake up and start making pottery. It took time and patience! I really wish that she lived near me because I would be over all the time trying to master what she is doing.  


Here is what she has to say about her studio and pieces:  I work out of my garage/studio. It's drafty and smells a bit strange on warm days, but it's fabulous to have my own space. I have little windows and a 'studio assistant' to talk to. (My dog)


I create each piece that you order from a ball of clay on my potters wheel. It then goes through a lengthy process. Once it's dry enough to handle, I customize it for you, and add any embellishments or handles. I paint the dark bottom by hand, and do carving by hand. I then fire the piece in my kiln before applying the color. Once the glaze is on, it is fired once again. Then... a long 24 hours later... it's cool enough to ship to you.


Sounds awesome, right?  She made me one of her customized mugs! I had her put Susie's Cafe on my mug, as that is what my family calls my kitchen!  One of my dear daughters asked me if this was my favorite mug now?  Well it is one of my favorites and it will go into the rotation of my favorite mugs that I use for my daily grind.


The mug is beautiful.  It is actually perfect.  I love handmade items and have one other mug that is also handmade.  I get so much more pleasure drinking out of them vs. just the store bought mugs. (shhh don't tell my other mugs about this...)  I just can't stop looking at the mug.  I had to look at it for a few days before I let myself drink from it.  The colors are rich and the design is perfect.  I could really go on and on about this mug!  Here is another photo of mug. Can you see why I love it?  

You'll have to go check out her shop and look at all of her other products.  I just sit and stare at some of these pieces.  Besides mugs, she dog bowls, beer steins, pitcher's, bowls, kid cups, tea cups,etc.  The coolest feature is that you can customize her products. (Custom Mugs from start to finish is an excellent article with great photos of her work)  These pieces of functional art would make the best present ever for anyone at any age!  Her items should be sold in specialty stores.  All of the photos on this page are her photos.

Happy Coffee Month! Thanks to the clever ETSY shop, infooncd, I got to review an awesome EBook on Starbucks Coffee Recipes!  The book is 34 pages of yummy Starbucks recipes.

Here are a few of our favorite recipes: Chai Tea, Peppermint Mocha, Gingerbread Latte', Camamel Macchiato, Eggnog Latte', Marbled pound cake and Mocha Brownies.  I was impressed with all the baked goods listed!!

Most of the recipes have easy to find ingredients that you probably have on hand at home.  There are a few items that you will have to buy at Starbucks or search online!  For me, it is easier to search online to get what I need.  We live in a small town with the nearest Starbucks 25 minutes away.

Her shop offers many ebook.  Some of them are Arts and Crafts, Recipes, Business Opportunities, Home and Garden, Pets, Health and Beauty and more!  The next book that I'm going to get is the Jerky Recipe book.  I just recently got a dehydrator and I can't wait to try out some of her recipes.

The book was very easy to access.  As soon as you pay for the book, she sends you the file.  I have ebook cookbooks on my computer so I just filed it in with the others.  So easy and right at your fingertips!

Crazy Dog Tshirt Giveaway for National Toasted Marshmallow Day

I love Crazy Dog Tshirt. I am proud to say that we have quite a few in my household! We've also ordered them for others as gifts.  Crazy Dog has shirts for men, women, kids and dogs! Coffee Month- Giveaway magnet with The Charm Lady

Happy Coffee Month!  I can't believe that my month is almost over! I still have quite a few things to post so keep checking back!  Today I'm featuring The Charm Lady on ETSY!  She sent me this AWESOME magnet that says, "I haven't had my coffee yet, don't make me kill you."  This is so funny and if you are an avid coffee drinker or know someone who is one, this is the perfect saying for them! 


Shop description of magnet:  A sassy mini collage captured between 1.5" squares of thin glass and then soldered around the edges. The solder has been sanded & polished resulting in a smooth shine. 

Attached to the back is a rare earth magnet - a super strong magnet which can easily hold up to 8 sheets of paper.

My Take on the Product:  Yes it is a strong magnet.  Some of my magnets fall off the fridge if the door gets shut to hard... well this one does not fall off!  It is very high quality and professionally made.  She should sell this in local shops.  I am so impressed by the wide variety of items that she carries in her shop.   She has beautiful clay pendants, reversible pendants (very unique idea), rings, a moss ring (so original), bubble pendants, wristlet key fobs and more!   She has over  170 items for sale!  I love her shop! These are high class items at really great prices.

My Take on her product: She has the cutest tile designs.  I did a search for coffee and found 8 different designs.  I chose the cup of coffee with spoon.  It is so fun and a lot of people ask about it.  Her shop has a wide variety of designs.  She creates bracelets, too.  They are adorable. These little pendants and bracelets should be sold in specialty gift shops.
