Community Coffee Giveaway!

We lived in New Orleans for 6 years. Hurricane Katrina didn't play nice and showed us the door! While living in New Orleans, I really learned how to cook and have fun cooking. I made a lot of friends who loved to cook and they shared a lot of recipes with me! Four years later we are still making New Orleans food.I was tickled to see this giveaway! I fell in love with coffee while living in New Orleans! I had never heard of Coffee with Chicory until living in New Orleans. Did you know that due to a coffee shortage during the Civil War, the chicory root was added to coffee extend their supply. Chicory is the root of the endive plant. They roast and ground it and add it to the grind. This addition gives the coffee a bittersweet, full bodied brew. I saw on their site that you can now buy a 12 oz bag of 100% chicory!!! How awesome!

Check out the giveaway at Confessions of a Misplaced Southern Belle for the details of the giveaway!

Five For Fighting CD Review & Giveaway

Thanks to the One2One Network, I have a new album on my Zune playlist!!!! I'm "enjoying a slice of American pie" listening to Five For Fighting's new CD, Slice. I really love the songs on this album including Hope, Story of Your Life, Chances and Note To The Unknown Solider. This album genre is acoustic rock.

What a super press release:
"If every album provides snapshots of where an artist’s mind at heart is at the moment, Slice, the latest offering from John Ondrasik (aka Five for Fighting), is a collection of digital jpegs and faded Polaroids. The album takes stories of friends, family and even American servicemen, and sets them to music shot through with the spirit of the great songs of his youth. It’s a diary, or a blog, in which Ondrasik speaks his mind about current issues, experiences and sentiments, while setting those thoughts to piano, bass and drums."
The CD will be released on October 12th!

One of my readers will win A FREE AUTOGRAPHED CD of Slice!

Besides his song "Superman", this is the first time that I've taken the time to listen to Singer/songwriter John Ondrasik work. I added several more of his albums to my playlist today, too! I'm super excited about the music on this CD as well as learning about this awesome Artist!

Rebecca Wells The Crowning Glory Giveaway

Thanks to HarperCollins Publisher for giving me the chance to review, The Crowning Glory of Calla Lily Ponder, the newest book by Rebecca Wells! They are offering 3 hardback copies for 3 of my readers!

About the book from HarperCollins:
Known for her beloved Ya-Ya books (Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, Little Altars Everywhere, and Ya-Yas in Bloom), Rebecca Wells has helped women name, claim, and celebrate their shared sisterhood for over a decade. Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood New York Times bestseller list for sixty-eight weeks, became a knockout feature film, sold more than 5 million copies, and inspired the creation of Ya-Ya clubs worldwide...
The Crowning Glory of Calla Lily Ponder is the sweet, sexy, funny journey of Calla Lily's life set in Wells's expanding fictional Louisiana landscape. In the small river town of La Luna, Calla bursts into being, a force of nature as luminous as the flower she is named for. Under the loving light of the Moon Lady, the feminine force that will guide and protect her throughout her life, Calla enjoys a blissful childhood—until it is cut short. Her mother, M'Dear, a woman of rapture and love, teaches Calla compassion, and passes on to her the art of healing through the humble womanly art of "fixing hair." At her mother's side, Calla further learns that this same touch of hands on the human body can quiet her own soul. It is also on the banks of the La Luna River that Calla encounters sweet, succulent first love, with a boy named Tuck.
But when Tuck leaves Calla with a broken heart, she transforms hurt into inspiration and heads for the wild and colorful city of New Orleans to study at L'Académie de Beauté de Crescent. In that extravagant big river city, she finds her destiny—and comes to understand fully the power of her "healing hands" to change lives and soothe pain, including her own. When Tuck reappears years later, he presents her with an offer that is colored by the memories of lost love. But who knows how Calla Lily, a "daughter of the Moon Lady," will respond?
A tale of family and friendship, tragedy and triumph, loss and love, The Crowning Glory of Calla Lily Ponder features the warmth, humor, soul, and wonder that have made Wells one of today's most cherished writers, and gives us an unforgettable new heroine to treasure.
As for me, I loved the book! I'm a huge fan of Rebecca Wells. She creates the most colorful, engaging characters unlike any other author that I have read. She captures the strength and determination of Calla Lily's spirit and takes her on a journey from a young child into a young woman. I'm always mesmerized by her descriptions of the people and the land of Louisiana. I had a hard time putting the book down each night. After reading, my mind would not stop thinking of Calla Lily!
