{Coffee Recipe} Cafe Pergolesi Espresso Steak Rub Recipe

I love coffee! Yes coffee drinks, coffee decor, coffee desserts, coffee coffee coffee! One of my favorite online coffee places is Big City Coffee. They have wonderful beans and I love all of their products. The owner is fun and friendly, too! They provided the below coffee recipe which is a coffee rub for meat. How can you go wrong with coffee and meat? What are some of your favorite coffee recipe?

Cafe Pergolesi Espresso Steak Rub Recipe

Ingredients:
1/2 cup ground sweet ancho chile or chile powder
1/4 cup Cafe Pergolesi ground espresso
4 Tablespoons hot smoked Spanish paprika
3 Tablespoons brown sugar
1 Tablespoon dry yellow mustard powder
1 Tablespoon salt
2 Tablespoons freshly ground black pepper
1 Tablespoon powdered ginger
2 teaspoons Chipotle chile powder
Makes about 1 1/2 cups

Preparation Instructions:
Mix all up and store in an airtight container.
Tips:
Keep for use on grilling steaks and other meats.
Apply liberally to one side only, put this side down first.
You can grill on an open fire or on a griddle indoors.
If using 1″ steaks, about 4-5 minutes on each side will give you a medium rare steak.

*I like to put a half teaspoon of herb butter on top of steak when serving.
*Another suggestion is to mix a few tablespoons of this rub into about 1/2 stick of butter, and my favorite idea – add some chocolate powder

Coffee Month- Starbucks Coffee ebook Recipes Giveaway

Happy Coffee Month! Thanks to the clever ETSY shop, infooncd, I got to review an awesome EBook on Starbucks Coffee Recipes!  The book is 34 pages of yummy Starbucks recipes.

Here are a few of our favorite recipes: Chai Tea, Peppermint Mocha, Gingerbread Latte', Camamel Macchiato, Eggnog Latte', Marbled pound cake and Mocha Brownies.  I was impressed with all the baked goods listed!!

Most of the recipes have easy to find ingredients that you probably have on hand at home.  There are a few items that you will have to buy at Starbucks or search online!  For me, it is easier to search online to get what I need.  We live in a small town with the nearest Starbucks 25 minutes away.

Her shop offers many ebook.  Some of them are Arts and Crafts, Recipes, Business Opportunities, Home and Garden, Pets, Health and Beauty and more!  The next book that I'm going to get is the Jerky Recipe book.  I just recently got a dehydrator and I can't wait to try out some of her recipes.

The book was very easy to access.  As soon as you pay for the book, she sends you the file.  I have ebook cookbooks on my computer so I just filed it in with the others.  So easy and right at your fingertips!

My Take on the Product: I got to try 4 fun flavors! They sent me Chocolate Coffee Beans, Peppermint Latte, Dog Poop and Coffee flavored lip balms to review.  I love all 4!

• I was a tad freaked out about trying the Dog Poop but knew I had to! The smell was yummy!  It had a rich caramel coffee smell.  I love smelling coffee so it was a pleasure to have this smell while the soft, silky lip balm moisturized my lips. Each lip balm, even though they were all coffee related, had a different smell.  
• The Chocolate Coffee Beans was all about chocolate and coffee.  
• The Coffee surprised me the most.  I was expecting a strong coffee smell but it really was a mild, fresh-brewed coffee smell.  
• The Peppermint Latte reminded me of the Starbucks Peppermint Latte that they serve around the holidays. 

My overall favorite of the four is Dog Poop! Call me sicko, my teens and husband did, but I love it!

Coffee Month- Big City Organic Coffee Giveaway

Now that I told you this, you are still wondering what type of coffee they carry, right?? I will tell you that I have, YET, to find one that I do not like!  I brew their coffee in many ways.  Most of the time I use it with my single cup Keurig Brew System.  The coffee works great with an AeroPress (hot and cold) and French Press, too!  Oh and I've been known to cook with it, too!

The first coffee I tried, well over a year ago, was the Chickadee Brand New Orleans Organic Coffee. I love the smell these beans.  I'm a huge fan of coffee with chickory.  This is some of the smoothest coffee I have ever tasted.  This coffee has undertones of chocolate and pecans! How can you go wrong with that??? 

Hi Fi no. 45 is another one of my favorites.  Again, I can not stop smelling the fresh coffee grounds! I'm wondering if you get caffeine in your system by just smelling? I loved the uniqueness of this coffee. This would be great to drink anytime especially in the afternoon when you might need a little more pep to get you through the rest of your day!

Tiki Club Island Blend is my overall favorite! I am a huge Sumatra blend coffee lover. This is the coffee I want to grab first thing in the morning!  It has a rare blend of Sumatra and Java.  This coffee is smooth and you can taste a hint of spice and chocolate!

Do you use espresso? If so you need to try their CafePergolesi.  It is one of the smoothest, espressos that I have ever brewed hot or cold!!! 

Don't say that I didn't give you a fair warning that I'm addicted to Big City Coffee.  I've tried just about all that they offer.  The Crazy Chief Caffeinator has offered to let one of my readers try some of his coffee!!  The variety pack that is being used for the giveaway is what I typically purchase.  I love every single pack in this set.  One of the packs that I didn't mention is the Kaldari Farms Ethopian.  This is the coffee that I almost always serve guest! AeroPress Iced Latte Coffee Recipe

Thanks to Stephen, at Big City Coffee, I won an AeroPress Coffee & Espresso maker a few months back on their Facebook Fanpage! I was really excited to win this cool coffee maker! Because it is such a cool coffee gadget, I decided to make my first cup of espresso into a Iced Cafe Latte. Make note that I am not a cold coffee drinker! I had read somewhere that someone used a French Press to make a cold espresso. I gagged thinking about it but decided to try it out.

The instructions included with the kit are extremely easy to follow! You put a filter in the cap and twist it onto the chamber. Then place it on a sturdy mug. It is best to use a fine-drip grind coffee. I used Cafe Pergolesi Espresso from Big City Coffee. I would say that it is one of the smoothest espressos that I have ever had. The smell is so inviting! I wanted to make the double espresso so the instructions said to use two AeroPress scoops of grind.This is the part where you are to pour in hot water (175-180 F) for best taste! My filtered tap water was easily 100 degrees off! You slowly pour in the water and then stir with paddle for about 10 seconds. Next you wet the rubber seal and insert the plunger in the the chamber. Gently press down about a quarter of an inch and I held that pressure for about 20-30 seconds all according to the instructions. The plunger goes to the bottom of the coffee and it is finished!

I have to say that it tasted a lot better than expected. It was very smooth, rich and no bitterness. I tossed in some milk and ice cubes to make an iced latte. The advantage of doing this with the cold water is that the ice cubes didn't melt. I rate this a 9.9 for a cool iced latte! You'll have to try it and see if you like it. My daughter finished mine off. She loves her coffee cool/cold. She loved it.

I have since used the AeroPress for hot espresso too. Very quick and easy. This will be great to take along on a trip too! I love it that it is plastic so no worries about glass breaking.

My-Kap & Reuse your Keurig K-Cups

How many of you LOVE your Keurig Machine for that single cup whenever you want it fresh cup of coffee???? I personally LOVE my Keurig Machine. I love all the varieties of coffee to choose from. My only problem with my machine is that I live in a tiny rural town and the only way to get more K-Cups is to order online. There are places ALL OVER the Internet to order them. Amazon and Green Mountain Coffee are two that I go to the most. I also found that I wanted to use my favorite coffees that were not in K-Cup form (For example, I love Big City Coffee and I they are in K-cup form so this allows me to drink it!!) . That is when I met My-Kap!

My-Kap allows you to reuse your Keurig K-Cups! This made me very happy! They sent me My-Kaps to try! Super easy to use! Every time I'm finished with a cup of coffee I now dump my grounds in a bowl to take out to my garden! I also like the fact that I'm reusing a product instead of just tossing it in the trash. It allowed me to use my favorite coffees that were not available, I didn't have to wait for a shipment and it saved money! Check out the video!

"So you say, why not get a reusable K-Cup. Good idea. But there are a few problems with the system Keurig wants you to use. First the reusable K-Cups cost $14 and up. If you want 10 of them, that is $140 just for the reusable cups. Second, the cup does not produce as good of a cup of coffee as the K-Cup itself. The designs are different and the water flows out the sides of the filter rather than down through the coffee (take a look at it closely). Third, the design is big, bulky, and hard to store. If you already have a turnstile for K-Cups, you can not store these there. With this product you can."

"The My-Kap kap allows you to recycle your K-Cups. Fill them with your favorite coffee or tea. And use them many times before they have to be thrown out for good. That lowers your cost for each cup of brew and also give you better brews each time."

Some Frequently Asked Questions and Answers from the Website

Q: How many times can I re-use my K-Cup?
A: As many times as you are comfortable with. I have used mine 10-20 times. The paper filter in these cups is very durable. Wash it out every time and you will get many uses out of a K-Cup.

Q: How many times can I re-use the Kap?
A: Forever. This Kap is made of extremely strong plastic. Keep it clean and re-use it forever.

Q: How much coffee should I put in the cup?
A: Fill the K-Cup up about 3/4 of the way. Make sure you use a fine grind.

Q: Will the My-Kap work with any K-Cup?
A: Yes and no. Not all of the K-Cups are made exactly alike. I have found it works well with the coffee K-Cups and less well with the tea and hot chocolate K-Cups.

Q: What kind of plastic is used?
A: My-Kap is made of polycarbonate plastic. It is one of the most used plastics in the world. It has an extremely high melting point and is 250 times stronger than glass. Your eye glasses are probably made out of this material.

Q: What about BPA?
A: This has been in the news lately. Plastic is everywhere we look. Much of the Keurig coffee brewer and K-Cup are made of various plastics that contain BPA. The fact is, it is almost impossible to not use a BPA containing plastic today. Also keep in mind that most hospital plastics contain BPA. If they thought it was unsafe, they would not use them.

Q: Is the Kap machine washable?
A: Yes. It is very durable and is Dishwasher Safe.

Viennese Roast

When I opened the box, my first thought was "ahhhhhh soooo freaking cute!" After playing with it and several uses I still thought that it was so freaking cute, easy to take on vacations and this little girl kicks out an awesome cup of coffee!

It came with very easy to read directions in A LOT of languages! My 10 year old said "OK mom I read the directions and it is easy to use." In case you loose your directions you can get them right on The Coffee Bump's site. (French Press Directions)
