Happy National Macadamia Nut Day!

I love macadamia nuts and thrilled that today is National Macadamia Nut Day. We love celebrating National Food Holidays, how about you? My first encounter with these little crunchy nuts were when I was a kid and my aunt gave us a box from Hawaii. Of course those nuts were covered in chocolate so I'm thinking the chocolate won me over as a kid. Now I love them with or without chocolate.

One of my most favorite recipes which I created is Raspberry Chocolate Macadamia Nut Amish Friendship Bread (click to get the recipe.) I love the combination of raspberries and macadamia nuts.

My husband's (and mine at one time) most favorite treat to get in St. Louis, MO is a Fox Treat Sundae at Ted Drewes on Route 66. If you are ever in St. Louis this is a must stop attraction! The place is always busy and you get your frozen custard within minutes of ordering. The place is iconic St. Louis.

This sundae is frozen custard with macadamia nuts, hot fudge and raspberries. The best!
