Easter Bunny Candy Bouquet

Who is ready for an easy peasy gift idea for Easter? Here is our favorite candy bouquet which we use mugs for the base. The mugs were picked up at garage sales and the Dollar Store. We also selected candy that our friends and family love which allowed us to personalize each mug bouquet. This is a super easy and inexpensive Easter project.

Materials Needed:
  • Mug
  • Easter Candy
  • Mug filler- we used a scarf
  • Tape or double sided dots
  • Paper Straw or Craft Stick
  • Ribbon of various sizes and colors
  • Mini Bowdabra/Ruler
  • Bowdabra Bow Wire

Instructions:

1. Gather all of your supplies.
2. Add mug filler and Easter Candy. Tape a straw or craft stick to the back of one of the pieces of candy. We used the large Easter bunny in the center. Stick this into the center of the mug and candy. Use more tape depending on the size of your candy.

3. Make a Bowdabra bow to top off the project. We tied ours to the mug handle.

4. Place the Hair Bow Tool & Ruler onto the Mini Bowdabra.  Cut 12in of Bowdabra Bow Wire fold the wire in half and place it into the Mini Bowdabra.

5. Begin by placing the widest ribbon at the 2.0in mark. Fold it back in forth for equal loops on both sides.

6. Add a colorful smaller width ribbon into the Mini Bowdabra and fold that back and forth for 2 equal loops. Trim off extra ribbon.

7. Take another color or patterned ribbon and fold it over 3 times in 1 inch segments.
Mini Bowdabra 7
8. Trim off the end and scrunch the tiny ribbon into the Mini Bowdabra to be the center of the bow.

9. Scrunch down the ribbon with the Mini Bowdabra Wand.
Mini Bowdabra 5
10. Thread the Bowdabra Bow Wire tails through the loop. Pull the wire tightly. Remove the bow from the Mini Bowdabra and knot the back.
Mini Bowdabra 8
11. Tie the bow to the bouquet. Add it to the handle, to the center candy or wrap bouquet with clear gift wrap and tie off with the bow. Trim off extra Bowdabra Wire.

I made the project for the Bowdabra Blog as one of their designers.

Easter Bunny in a Jar Food Craft & Gift Idea

Easter Bunny Bow Ears Craft for Kids

egg cups

Easter Bunny Egg Cups - Cute and easy project!

-Cut out white and pink ears and pink nose with felt.
-Cut a pipe cleaner in half or in thirds.
-Hot glue or tacky glue ears together and glue to back of small plastic dixie cup. Then do eyes. Fold pipe cleaners in half and glue on cup. Finally glue on nose.

Use this to add in an Easter egg for the kids. You can have their name on the egg. This would be cute for party favors or instead of place cards at the dinner table. You could even add candy into the cup. Use any size cup. I got this fun idea from the daycare where I work!

Rainbow Bread - Last but not least... let the kids brighten up bread with a little bit of fun colors! I got this project from my friend's daycare.

To Do:
1-With paint brushes, let the kids paint on a mixture of whole milk and food coloring. The mixture is 1/3 cup whole milk and desired amount of food coloring.

Don't let them go too crazy with the mixture or the bread will turn to mush.

2-Bake the bread on parchment paper in a preheated 375 degree oven for 5 minutes. You can use the paper to write their names on.
3-  Then let them eat the rainbow!
So fun and perfect for so many occasions! Thanks for sharing, Jane!

Easter Treats on a Stick and Easter Game for Kids

Easter is just around the corner! What fun family traditions do you have? We celebrate this day at Church with our Church family which is kicked off with a massive Easter breakfast. From there the kids hide Easter eggs and then hop on over to family and friends to eat a mouthwatering lunch or dinner. Prior to the actual Easter Sunday there are many Easter egg hunts and Easter parties. Here are a few ideas to kick off April to get you ready for Easter. This is a sponsored post by Global Influence and candy provided by Hershey's but my own ideas and opinions are expressed here.

easter treats

Instead of giving the package of candy as always, open up the Easter Bunny foiled wrapped HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate and Egg shaped REESE’S Peanut Butter Cups and give them a new spin!

Sweets on a Stick

We gently and carefully stuck skewers or straws (cut at an angle) into the candy, brushed with honey and added sprinkles and eyes. The thin brushing of the honey was just enough "edible glue" to get the candy eyes and sprinkles to stick. They were so fun to eat this way!

The kids can actually do these at an Easter party or you can make them up ahead of time for their Easter Basket. It is super quick and easy.

Another thing you can do is have a JOLLY RANCHER Hard Candy flavored Jelly Bean contest for your Easter celebrations. Have you tried these jelly beans? Oh my they taste just like JOLLY RANCHERS! To make the game, just fill any jar with Jelly Beans and have them all guess on a piece of paper. Make sure to have them add their names to the paper and drop it in an Easter Basket. Pull out the correct guess and reward that person with the jar of candy!

We decorated the lid of our jar with a cupcake liner and hot glued a ribbon around the ring to give it some festive color!

Paid on the Cross Lent and Easter Craft

Here is a Lent Craft to do with the kids. Since we use money to pay for things, the coins glued onto the cross remind us that God loves us so much that He paid for all of the bad things we do (our sins) on the cross. This also makes the perfect lesson and Easter Craft to do at home or Sunday school.
Paid on the Cross

Paid on the Cross Lent and Easter Craft

Craft Supplies:

Small wooden or paper mache cross*

Pennies (clean & dry)**
Tacky glue

*We found fun and inexpensive paper mache boxes at a local craft store. Kids love “treasure boxes”!
**You can use lots of pennies or only a few like we did; a mixture of coin denominations would also be pretty!
lent
Instructions:
  • Attach coins to the cross with tacky glue. Allow glue to dry.
  • As we started putting dots of glue on their crosses, I reminded my boys that Easter was coming up and asked them if they remembered what Easter is about. My 5-year-old said, “Yeah, that's when God dies.” We then had a short conversation to refresh their memories on Easter, Jesus' death on the cross, and Him coming back to life. Since we use money to pay for things, the coins glued onto the cross remind us that God loves us so much that He paid for all of the bad things we do (our sins) on the cross.
  • Inspired by Mom On Time Out
science experiment
Science Experiment #1 Shiny Pennies
We wanted shiny pennies for our craft, so we started with science experiments to see if we could make our dull pennies prettier!

Supplies:

Dirty pennies

¼ cup vinegar
3 tsp salt
Small glass/plastic cup or bowl
Small stick or spoon for stirring

Instructions:

  • With your child's help, measure vinegar and pour into the container. How does it smell?
  • Place the pennies in the cup. Can your child describe how they look?
  • Count the teaspoons of salt with your child as you add it to the bowl. Stir. Leave the pennies in the cup for 10-15 minutes.
  • Pour out the vinegar. Rinse and dry off the pennies.
Results: How do they look now? We were happy to see that our experiment made our pennies less dull, but we wanted to try another method to see if we could get them really sparkling.
Science Experiment
Science Experiment #2 Shiny Pennies

Supplies:

¼ cup citrus juice (lemon juice is best but lime or grapefruit will work)

Instructions:

Results:
Our pennies were pretty sparkly after our second experiment, so we were ready for craft time!
