September Challenge How to Start Walking Tips #MakeTime Day 2

Over the past year I have interviewed other women who are also on a healthier lifestyle journey. I will be sharing some of their interviews and featuring other bloggers who for whatever reason have chosen to just move it and make time to get healthy. From my experience this isn't done overnight. Each day is a new day. Give it to yourself to start fresh every time you wake up!

Join our September Challenge to get into a habit of a healthier lifestyle. It can be done, if you want it done. Click over to the challenge to get your free monthly printable. Start today even though it is September 2nd. Don't wait another minute to take care of you.

This photo is from Eliza's Journey Pound by Pound on Facebook. I just happened to see it yesterday and knew it would be perfect for today!

Some of these tips are from one of my most favorite bloggers Paula from Call Me PMc so click over and read her interview and learn more about why she exercises.

HOW TO TIPS to start Exercising:
  • The very easiest is walking, especially if you haven't exercised in years.
  • Just move.
  • Make a date with a friend and walk and talk and make it enjoyable.
  • Get a pedometer. It's recommended everyone walk 10000 steps per day at minimum.
  • Start walking or light exercise for just 15 minutes.
  • Walk the stairs, don't park close to the store entrance, wear a pedometer, set very small obtainable goals and add a little more each week.
  • Get those steps in.
  • Find some music you enjoy or an audio book and listen to it when walking.
  • Wear comfy shoes. When you start off walking don't go crazy and buy expensive shoes. Use your current shoes and then reward yourself with new ones at the end of the month.
  • It isn't easy getting to 10,000 steps a day when you are just starting off. So just start walking and when you are done look at your pedometer and record your number along with how long it took you do do it. The next day repeat what you did and strive to take 500 more steps or walk 5 more minutes. Keep a journal to chart your progress.
  • Walk in well lit areas if you are walking at night.
  • If there aren't side walks then walk or run against traffic so you can see what is coming.
  • Drink water before you head out and carry a bottle of water with you. Drink 6-8 bottles a water each day. Start with getting in at least 2 and then increase it daily. Soon you will only want to drink water and will crave water instead of soda. (ditch soda as soon as you can)
  • Don't walk on a full stomach.
Do you have any tips to add? Leave them below.

September Challenge Make Time to Walk #MakeTime

Last week I asked if some of you would like to join in a September Challenge to Walk Every Day. If you have never exercised, this is for you. If you haven't exercised in forever, this is for you. If you sometimes or already exercise, this is for you!  Ok just so you know every day walking to the bathroom, to the fridge or even to your car to go to the store does not count! Read more below on what counts! I've been on a healthier lifestyle journey for 16 month and I would love for you to join in!

Every day in September I will post daily on my blog. Stop in and let me know that you did the challenge and what you did. Sometimes life gets in the way and you might have had to skip a day here and there. Stop in as soon as you can and let us know how you are coming along.

Sixteen months ago I just started walking at my gym. It takes 18 times to go around the track for 1 mile. I could barely walk 2 laps at a time and I would have to sit down. Now I can walk and run it over 3 miles at a time and go outside and walk/run 5+ miles at a time. So I'm here to tell you that if YOU want to feel better and if YOU want to build up endurance and if YOU want to drops some pounds and build muscle then YOU can do this. Start today. If you already exercise then please participate by walking, running or exercising every day for the month.

Rules- nahhhhh I do not like exercise rules but here are a few guidelines.
  • Put on a pair of tennis shoes and start walking. If you can walk or run 1 mile a day then do it. IF you are just starting out like I was 16 months ago then just walk until you feel like you can't walk anymore and turn around and go back to where you starter.
  • The next day pick up where you left off and do it again and push yourself to take a few extra steps. Each day for the entire month you will keep increasing your walking or running time.
  • Set a goal and do it. It can be steps, distance, time, etc. Just do it.
  • Listen to music or a book.
  • Get free apps for your phone to track your walking or running or steps. Use it to push and challenge you every day.
Here is a free printable calendar for you to print off and mark every day you do the challenge. Put it on the fridge to remind you daily.

Each day when I post I will share my favorite apps, exercises, music, clothes, shoes, etc that I use or have used over the past year. When you comment feel free to let me know what you use, too. If you blog about exercise or anything healthy leave those links, too. I'll visit and feature you this month. I already have some wonderful inspirational bloggers that I will be sharing this month.

So are you in? Are you joining in? By the way since I'm not big on rules, you can JOIN IN at anytime this month. So don't be discouraged if you are just finding out about this after the first. Just start where you are and move move move! Share this post and invite others to join in.

Who Loves Shrimp? Want an Endless Shrimp Meal? #sponsored

I LOVE shrimp. Honestly to be fair I love all seafood. Whenever I eat out I go right to the seafood selections no matter the restaurant. I want to see what is on the menu and if it looks tasty I will try it. Shrimp seems to be the one seafood that is offered the most on the menus. I knew that the Endless Shrimp promotion was going on at Red Lobster and lucky me I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Red Lobster. I received a gift card to facilitate my review promotional item as a thank-you for participating..... to go eat shrimp. How could I pass up eating shrimp? I didn't!

This past week I took hubby out on a date to Red Lobster. Yep I was paying and told him to order whatever he wanted. I was there for the Endless Shrimp meal! I really didn't believe that I could order all the shrimp that I could eat but it was totally true. All I could picture was a sign saying,"sorry endless shrimp promotion is over," as I walked in the door! The promotion is still going strong and this is their 12th year to have this summer promotion.

So what is the Endless Shrimp meal? The meal is $15.99 and comes with a huge salad, famous Cheddar Bay Biscuits, 4 ENDLESS shrimp options and a side. The shrimp choices were Spicy Soy Wasabi Grilled Shrimp, Hand Breaded Shrimp, Garlic Shrimp Scampi and Shrimp Linguini Alfredo. I love wasabi and enjoyed the new Spicy Soy Wasabi Grilled Shrimp. Wasabi can be over powering but it really wasn't in this selection. The wasabi added just a little kick to the grilled shrimp. I'm also a sucker for Alfredo sauce and my #2 favorite was the Shrimp Linguini Alfredo.

We did kick off our meal with the Lobster Artichoke Seafood Dip which was tasty. It comes with a side of pico so if you don't get it, just ask because they give you an insane amount of taco chips and you'll want it. They have tasty signature drinks but I had to save room for my endless shrimp. Next time I'm getting one of these drinks instead of an appetizer! lol Such tough decisions! We were too stuffed for dessert or I would have for sure had the Warm Chocolate Chip Lovers Cookie.

Hubby and I enjoyed our date night and it was a kick off of our 20th anniversary celebration! I think we should celebrate by eating out once a week for 52 weeks? YES? I'm sure the budget won't allow it but I'm game to be cooked for once a week ESPECIALLY if it is a meal of endless shrimp. He had the huge crab legs meal which made me a tad jealous because I love crab legs. He gave me the first bite. YES he loves me :)

When was the first time you went to Red Lobster? Mine was in 1989 on a date with a guy in college. When was the last time you ate at Red Lobster? What is your favorite menu item? I'd have to say mine is the Wasabi Grilled Shrimp AND of course the Cheddar Bay Biscuits.

Follow along with Red Lobster on Twitter and Facebook to keep updated on their tasty promotions!
