Easter Bunny Ears Craft

Let's do the Easter Bunny Hop together with these adorable Easter bunny ears. This is an easy Easter craft sure to please any little Easter bunny! I made these last year for my friend's baby! Ok so if you look at the pictures below they were a tad too big but I'm sure this year the bunny has grown into them. What fun crafts do you make at Easter time? Share your ideas!

This is a super easy project which I used the Mini Bowdabra to create the perfect bows. If you haven't used this tool, think about getting one! If you like to make bows for any occasion this does it in a breeze. I use to be the worse bow maker in the USA until I got my Bowdabra and Mini Bowdabra! No joke! It is that easy.

To use the Mini Bowdabra to make bows, you just do one step at a time and it take all about a minute to make one.

To make a Bow using the Mini Bowdabra:

  1. Cut a 24" piece of Bowdabra Wire and fold it in half. Then place it in the Bowdabra and wrap the extra wire under each side.
  2. Take your ribbon and add 3-4 inches to the left side, scrunch the ribbon in the center. This will be the tail end of the bow. The right side make the same length, loop it over and stick it back into the center of the Bowdabra.
  3. Make the loop on the left side, scrunch back into the center and cut the tail to be equal to the left. That easy. Now if you want more to your bow, keep adding more loops instead of cutting off. You can also add strips like I did with the white and pink/blue ribbon. If you add in pieces of ribbon also scrunch it in the middle and make it equal on both sides.
  4. I finished my bow with one more looped using the light blue.
  5. When done, scrunch the bow down with the Bowdabra wand, bring up the Bowdabra Wire, and loop it together so you can pull it out of the Bowdabra.
  6. Turn the bow upside down to knot off. Use the extra wire to wrap on the bunny ears or whatever you want to do with the bow. I then trim the wire when I'm done.
Honestly this is easy to do! The Bowdabra site is full of step by step tutorial.

Easter Leftover Ham and Potato Soup

What do you cook for Easter Dinner? Do you have family favorite recipes? If you cook Ham, use the leftovers to cook this tasty ham and potato soup recipe.

Ham an Potato Soup

There's nothing better than a bowl of piping hot soup on a cold winter day.  Well, okay, a trip to Hawaii might be a bit nicer.  But there's no doubt that steaming soup is a close second!  At my house, this soup is always a hit (with almost everyone, that is.  I have five kids and the chances of making everyone happy at one meal are slimmer than winning the lottery!).  I hope you and your family enjoy it as much as we do! - Recipe provided by Guest Chef, mammamillk.

Ham and Potato Soup

1 stalk celery, diced
1 carrot, diced
1 onion, diced
3 cloves garlic
8 oz. ham, diced
3 T butter
1/4 c. flour
4 c. chicken broth (cold)
2 c. water
1.5 lb. potatoes, diced
cayenne pepper
black pepper and salt to taste
1/2 c. cream
cheese if desired

Saute the first 5 ingredients in the butter on medium heat for about 5-6 minutes.  Add the flour and stir to coat.  Slowly drizzle in the chicken broth and water.  Cook for 15 minutes on medium high.  Add salt if needed.  Add the potatoes and cook an additional 15 minutes more.  Add the cayenne and black pepper.  When you're ready to eat, add the cream.  The soup is ready when the cream is warm.  If you'd like to add cheese, remove the soup from the heat and add a bit, stirring to melt it.

Skinny Funfetti Cupcake and Pinwheel Cupcake Toppers

Welcome Spring! It feels so good to say that today. Celebrate with our crafts blogger Pinwheel Blog Hop. My pinwheel craft tutorial creates mini cupcake toppers for our Skinny Funfetti Cupcake recipe.

Skinny Funfetti Cupcake Recipe (Vanilla or Chocolate)
inspired by Six Sisters STUFF Cookbook

1 (15.25 oz) pkg Pillsbury Funfetti cake mix
1 (12 oz) can of Sprite Zero
1 (8 oz) container fat-free nondairy whipped topping
1 (1.5 oz) pkg vanilla instant pudding

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line 24 cupcake tins with paper liners. In a large bowl, combine dry cake mix and Sprit. Continue to mix until the batter is smooth without lumps. Pour approximately 1/4 cup of batter into every cupcake liner. Bake 20 minutes. Let cool.

When cupcakes are completely cooled, use an electric mixer to combine whipped topping and pudding until smooth. Spread over cupcakes. Makes 2 dozen.

Kitchen Notes: For the Skinny Funfetti cucake - my store did not carry the Funfetti cake mix so I just used a regular white or yellow cake mix and added in 3/4 cup of sprinkles to the batter. I always make half vanilla and half chocolate. To do this, just stir in 1/2 cup cocoa powder to the cake mix after doing the first 12 cupcakes as vanilla. Frosting tip: We use different sprinkles for vanilla and chocolate. That way we can tell which ones are which.

Say GOODBYE to boring cupcakes and HELLO to Spring time fun with this easy-to-make pinwheel craft cupcake topper tutorial. Here are 9 easy steps to create a pinwheel craft of any size.
pinwheel craft
9 step pinwheel craft tutorial

1- Get any size square paper and draw a line from corner to corner.
2-Draw a small circle in the middle of the paper where the corner lines meet.
4-Cut up to that circle on each line. Don't cut into the circle.
5-Take a pencil and make a small dot at the bottom left of each triangle. Make your first dot, rotate the square and repeat until you have 4.
6-Use a pencil to punch a hole through each small dot or just use a tiny hole punch.
7-Use the same small punch and punch in the center of the square (right in the middle of the circle). Punch a hole in a straw tip, too.
8-Get a fastener and put through one hole at a time of the 4 corner holes.
9-Push the fastener and paper to the bottom and go through that hole. Attach the straw on the back and push the fastener through and close off.

That easy! For the cupcakes I used a 3 x 3 size square.

Paid on the Cross Lent and Easter Craft

Here is a Lent Craft to do with the kids. Since we use money to pay for things, the coins glued onto the cross remind us that God loves us so much that He paid for all of the bad things we do (our sins) on the cross. This also makes the perfect lesson and Easter Craft to do at home or Sunday school.
Paid on the Cross

Paid on the Cross Lent and Easter Craft

Craft Supplies:

Small wooden or paper mache cross*

Pennies (clean & dry)**
Tacky glue

*We found fun and inexpensive paper mache boxes at a local craft store. Kids love “treasure boxes”!
**You can use lots of pennies or only a few like we did; a mixture of coin denominations would also be pretty!
lent
Instructions:
  • Attach coins to the cross with tacky glue. Allow glue to dry.
  • As we started putting dots of glue on their crosses, I reminded my boys that Easter was coming up and asked them if they remembered what Easter is about. My 5-year-old said, “Yeah, that's when God dies.” We then had a short conversation to refresh their memories on Easter, Jesus' death on the cross, and Him coming back to life. Since we use money to pay for things, the coins glued onto the cross remind us that God loves us so much that He paid for all of the bad things we do (our sins) on the cross.
  • Inspired by Mom On Time Out.

Science Experiment #1 Shiny Pennies
We wanted shiny pennies for our craft, so we started with science experiments to see if we could make our dull pennies prettier!

Supplies:

Dirty pennies

¼ cup vinegar
3 tsp salt
Small glass/plastic cup or bowl
Small stick or spoon for stirring

Instructions:

  • With your child's help, measure vinegar and pour into the container. How does it smell?
  • Place the pennies in the cup. Can your child describe how they look?
  • Count the teaspoons of salt with your child as you add it to the bowl. Stir. Leave the pennies in the cup for 10-15 minutes.
  • Pour out the vinegar. Rinse and dry off the pennies.
Results: How do they look now? We were happy to see that our experiment made our pennies less dull, but we wanted to try another method to see if we could get them really sparkling.

Science Experiment #2 Shiny Pennies

Supplies:

¼ cup citrus juice (lemon juice is best but lime or grapefruit will work)
