Homemade Snicker Bars

Last week at our youth Valentine's Dinner, Sherry brought these awesome homemade snickers. These things really taste like snickers! There are several layers to this recipe but it really doesn't take that much time to put together. This is a popular recipe right now and there are several different ways to make it. Let me know if you have a different version.

They were a huge hit and here is her recipe:

Homemade Snickers

Ingredients

Bottom Layer

2 teaspoons butter
1 cup chocolate chips
1/4 cup butterscotch chips
1/4 cup of creamy peanut butter

Filling Layer
1/4 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups marshmallow cream
1/4 cup evaporated milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups chopped slated peanuts
1/4 cup creamy peanut butter

Caramel Layer
1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
14 ounces (1 pkg) caramels

Icing Layer

1 cup (6 ounces) milk chocolate chips
1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1/4 cup butterscotch chips

Directions

* Line a 9 X 13 pan with alum. foil and butter it with the 2 teaspoons of butter.

*In a small saucepan, combine the next 3 ingredients (choc chips, butterscotch chips & peanut butter). Stir over low heat until melted and spread into butter pan.

*Next layer (Filling)-In a small saucepan, melt butter. Add in sugar and milk. Bring to a light boil and then stir for 5 more minutes. Remove from heat and stir in marshmallow cream, peanut butter and vanilla. Add in peanuts. Spread this over the first layer. Put in fridge to set while you work on the next layer.

*Next layer (Caramel)-In a small saucepan, combine caramels and cream over low heat until melted. Cook and stir for 5 more minutes. Spread this over the filling later. Put in fridge to set while you work on the next layer.

*Next layer(Icing)-In a small saucepan, combine peanut & butterscotch chips and peanut butter. Stir over low heat until melted. Pour over caramel layer.

*Keep in fridge 4-8 hours. Remove 20 minutes before serving. Cut into 3 inch X 1 inch rectangle bars. Makes 2 dozen or more if you cut smaller.
