3 Healthy Smoothie Recipes for National Physical Fitness Month

Did you know that May is National Physical Fitness Month? It was named that back in 1983. It is a time to encourage physical activity and healthy eating habits.

Are you and your family physically active? It can involved family sports, individual sports, walking or hiking, riding bikes, etc. In April I started walking 5 times a week and boy does it feel great.

Healthy eating habits is something that we can all do. First is to make sure you keep fruit and vegetables in your home instead of processes boxed foods and snacks. There are a few super fruits that you can concentrate on, too. These fruits contain high concentrations of phytonutrients and particularly in antioxidants. Three examples include:

  • Blueberries - contain flavonoids that can improve circulation and help defend against infection
  • Broccoli - rich in the antioxidants vitamin C and beta-carotene, as well as folate, all of which can protect against cardiovascular disease and cancer
  • Tomatoes - rich in lycopene, a powerful antioxidant that can protect against harmful free radicals

  • Very Berry Blast
