Enter to win $25 with Walmart and Bakeoff #MyBlogSpark

I have always been intrigued by the Pillsbury Bake off. I remember as a young kid seeing the results in newsstand magazines. These women (and men) were kitchen rockstars, to me! It was always amazing to me to read how they created original recipes and entered them into the Bakeoff.com contest. I have never entered their contest but might do it in the future. Have you ever entered the contest?

If you go to Bakeoff.com you can find the current Pillsbury Bake-Off recipes. Over the years, I have made quite a few of their recipes. This year I tried the Breakfast Crostatas submitted by Barbara Targna from Collegeville, Pennsylvania. Doesn't it look great? Check out the recipe at the bottom of the page.
I love to create recipes so when I have a recipe from someone else, I always tweak it to suit my needs. I made the Breakfast Crostatas but mine did not turn out like Barbara's. I'm not sure what I did wrong but I plan on trying it again. I used sausage instead of ham but I don't think that was my problem. For some reason my dough did not want to coperate. I'm really embarrassed to show you how mine turned out BUT to be honest in my review, I need to! Here is my picture:
Do you still respect me? haha I really hope so. I really do cook as you know if you are a regular reader of my blog.

How about you? Have you ever had a recipe that didn't turn out as expected? I'd love to hear it. I challenge you to go to Bakeoff.com and find a recipe that you want to tackle. I've always found the Bake-off recipes to be easy to make and very family friendly. I'm not discouraged by my first try this year. Once you print off your recipe, go to Walmart and check out the everydaysaver.com/Walmart savings to print off coupons for your shopping trip.

How would you like to enter to win $25 at Walmart to even better your savings? It is a win-win situation! Enter below in the Rafflecopter form. Giveaway ends 3/4/12.

Disclosure - The gift card, information, and giveaway have been provided by Walmart and General Mills, through MyBlogSpark.

Breakfast Crostatas

Prep Time: 15 Min
Total Time: 40 Min

Makes: 4 servings

Ingredients
1 can
1
can Pillsbury® refrigerated crusty French loaf
1 1/2
 teaspoons McCormick® Basil Leaves
1/2
 teaspoon McCormick® Rosemary Leaves, crushed
1 1/2
cups diced ham or Canadian bacon
1 1/2
cups (6 oz) shredded Gouda cheese or Cheddar cheese
4
 LAND O LAKES® Eggs
 Dash salt, if desired
 Dash McCormick® Ground Black Pepper
Heat oven to 350°F. Spray cookie sheet with Crisco® Original No-Stick Cooking Spray. Carefully unroll loaf of dough onto cookie sheet; cut in half lengthwise and crosswise to form 4 squares. Sprinkle dough squares with basil and rosemary. Top dough squares evenly with ham and cheese. Make small well in center of ham and cheese on each square.2To form crostatas, fold edges of dough up 1 inch over filling, making pleats and pressing dough firmly. Carefully crack open each egg and drop into well in each crostata. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.3Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until bottoms of crostatas are golden brown and egg whites and yolks are firm, not runny.

  1. Well I'm not mad at ya! Look at it this way, the egg didn't bust. You just have to figure out why the dough rose up so much. I like it when people post they mess up's because it helps you learn even more than you expected. I might just take you up on the challenge, but I feel challenged enough trying to get my sight working correctly. LOL!
